Lack of activity, chronic health problems or even simply just a recent injury can severely affect balance. As human being we don’t realize just how easily this necessary system can be altered. Balance training can be a slow dangerous undertaking for some clients. In an aquatic setting balance is more easily restored and even enhanced much more quickly than on land. Even low levels of water can also enhance any ?tness programs. The amazing resistant property of the water provides something that is dif?cult or next to impossible to to achieve on land, every movement, becomes both eccentric and concentric doubling the value of just about every exercise. This class looks at various ways to workout in an aquatic environment and easy ways to increase that resistance with group or individual classes. Even if you are used to a heavy work out, you’ll about to discover the water adds a lot more thank you might think!

Ethical Considerations For Aquatics Therapists - 3 Ethics A CE Hours (Land)

The bodywork profession has some pretty straightforward ethical standards. Just imagine how some of those standards might be challenged during aquatic bodywork sessions! This class offers an open and frank discussion of how these lines might be blurred for both the therapist and client with aquatic modalities. The pool isn’t nearly as large as it seems!

Dynamic Aquatic Release Technique - 8 CE Hours (Land and Pool Combination)

Date/Time TBD
Cost - $150
Maximum Attendees - 20
Location TBD

This relatively new modality is perfect for the release of new and old, super?cial or deep, adhesions, altering old movement patterns, and initiates almost instant relief for many chronic pain sufferers with very few contraindications. Don’t discount the healing powers that the water has to offer! DART (Dynamic Aquatic Release Technique) combines the intuition of both client and practitioner using trigger point therapy and rhythmic movement, causing deep releases in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments, and freeing structures for maximum movement. Similar modalities are currently being used by physical therapists and wellness professionals, however these modalities do not generally take the approach that the body is one large structure. Aquatic physical therapists work with a set list of positions and movements but don’t allow for therapist’s intuition and knowledge of tissue manipulation to enhance the process. DART frees the therapist from this box and allows palpation skills and skilled intuition to affect the outcome.

A DART practitioner uses a variety of positions and aquatic techniques to cause compensatory fascial release throughout the entire body. Several aquatic modalities like Watsu require a larger amount of pool space and are used mainly in body temperature water, keeping he client warm during the relaxation phase. DART on the other hand, is a client active modality that can be used in any setting, in large or small pools and with any water temperature. This eight hour land and pool class refreshes the therapists knowledge of trigger point theory, tensegrity theory, and the Golgi Tendon Organ apparatus. Students will learn basic positions, movements, and sensory input so they can start honing their skills immediately. The theory portion of this class included indications and contraindications for DART, as well as some examples of practical applications of this amazing modality. Students will receive and assessment of their basic skills at the end of the class.

Registration and prepayment required. Classes will be canceled/rescheduled at the discretion of ECWellness with less than a minimum number of reservations/in cases of inclement weather. Cancelation policies apply.
